Book Blogger Hop and Follow Friday (1)

This is a weekly meme started by Jennifer at Crazy for Books. I thought I would add it to the blog.

This weeks questions is:
What do you consider the post important in a story: the plot or the characters?

This is a tough one! Without the plot the story wouldn't go anywhere BUT I have to go with characters. I think my favorite part of reading is getting to know the characters and becoming invested in what happens to them. Even when the plot goes kinda crazy if the characters are developed enough that I love them I will keep reading just to find out what happens to them.

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee's View. It's a way to spread the love and get new followers.
This week's question is:

What did you study in college, or are currently studying and did it lead to your current 9 to 5 or are you doing something totally different?

Well, when I was an undergrad at WVU I majored in History with a minor in Communication and Business Administration. (Yes, I know - totally different stuff.) After graduation I went back to college at MU and got my Master's of Arts in Teaching with my emphasis on Social Studies. Well, I lucked into a job as a School Library Media Specialist and just finished up my second Master's for that. And that's what I'm currently doing! I'm a school librarian. :)

Just popping in via the hop to say hi! We seem to read very similar books, I see you have Paranormalcy on your list, I really enjoyed that one! I need to get caught up on the Melissa Marr series, I've only read the first one, but I think I'll wait until the last one comes out so I can read them back to back. I'm a new follower here and I hope you have a great weekend!

Hi, I'm here on the Blog Hop! Characters are definitely more important for me; it's true that the plot can be lacking so long as the characters stay good. New follower, as well!

Oh me what a question this week.

I really think the characters are important. It makes me want to read the book if I want to know the characters. But a good plot with twists just makes it move along.

I just finished a degree in Biological Sciences and am still working on a degree in Humanities, History, and Religious Studies. What do I want to do when I grow up? I want to be the hottest historian on the history channel, national geographic, or discovery channel!

I'm launching a new reading challenge that you might be interested in, Morbid Romantica Challenge 2011.

Also today is the start of a Ridley's Giveaway where you can win a Hardcover copy of either Beautiful Creatures or Beautiful Darkness.

Thanks for stopping by :)

This might be the best Book Blogger Hop question I've seen to date.

So what's the answer? Plot! Hop over to my blog and let me tell you how a good plot rescued bad characters from bad book oblivion.

Lots of degrees! What do you like best about being a librarian? Is it better being in a school?

I don't think business and communication are so different. Both pretty much apply to everything. Sounds like you enjoy school!
